Study finds teledentistry a valid substitute for in-person initial consultations


LONDON, UK: The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the widespread adoption of videoconferencing tools in many industries, and dentistry is no exception. A new study has found that, for triage purposes and initial consultations, teledentistry has a relatively high acceptance rate among dentists and patients alike and is largely perceived to be a viable alternative to in-person dental check-ups.

Interview: Procter & Gamble—commitment to advancing healthy oral care habits and sustainability


Celeste Giganti obtained her master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Palermo in 2004. She joined Procter & Gamble right after graduating, and after several roles in Feminine Care and Baby Care, she joined Oral Care’s newly established sustainability team in 2020. She is the Oral Care R & D director for sustainability in Europe and for manual toothbrushes globally. During the Mobile World Congress (MWC), which took place in Barcelona from 28 June to 1 July, she gave a presentation on P&G Oral Care’s newest sustainability commitments to advancing healthy oral care habits and helping to transform the health of people while reducing the impact on our planet.

Dr Kyle Stanley is a specialist in implantology, founder of a company transforming patient care through artificial intelligence (AI) and a passionate advocate for mental health in the dental profession. On 16 September, he will lecture on the future of dentistry powered by AI at the Osstell ISQ Online Symposium, which attracted 2,000 attendees last year. In this interview, the expert discusses how AI supports dental professionals in different areas such as radiology, practice management, smile design, the laboratory and dental insurance. He also talks about how AI is going to help individualise treatment plans in the future and how it can benefit the mental well-being of dentists.
